Not sure if this is in the right section but here goes.
What steering wheel options are avaiable without any mods?
At the moment i think i have a golf one but would like a more standard one ie original or caravelle-is a standard one the same for a 1980-1989?
thanks in advance
Katie

I have a power steering one on mine.its a lot thicker than a normal or caravelle one.its 42cm across. Not easy to come across in this country. As most were fitted to american buses. The guy i bought mine from brings them back from the usa.And sells them at shows. His name is frank..

Hi Katie, looks like you have a mk 1 GTI one on at the moment i had the same once over, upgraded to a T4 wheel slightly larger then yours giving better view of the clocks, i'll measure it later.

Katie.....the Golf MK1 steering wheel does indeed need spacing so the self cancelling indicators work correctly (some get away without) they can also require a colar on top of the column as sometimes they wobble without but not always.
I gave my padded smaller original wheel to a friend and fitted a MK1 wheel like yours, have since swapped to a Momo.
Are you swapping because of the size or because the self cancel isn't working?

To be honest Martin ive never liked it, guess it might be different if i had the spacer fitted and now someone has offered me some pennies for it as its a perfect match for his golf, so was looking to flog it and get a proper one for the van.
