Wire in a new stereo problem

I've just spent up and bought an new fancy stereo, when I was fitting the stereo I blew a fuse in a little black box bridging the live wires. I replaced the fuse fitted everything back together and low and behold it didnt work

So I tried fitting the old stereo and that one didn't work either, there was power to the thing but not enough to work it properly.

Does anyone know what the little back box does and could I have broken it?
If so does anyone also know where to buy one from?

Hope someone can help
Cheers
Jim

from your description im guessing you are talking about the choke filter, inline on the red (and maybe yellow) wire to the stereo?
have you checked for inline fuse on the vans wiring, previous installations may have mistakenly added extra fuses in the belief they were helping

Hi, I think you may be right the little black box had two fuses and a couple of other things in it. Anyhow with or without it the stereo still only pulses on and off never seeming to have enough power to run the stereo. I don t think it can be a blown inline fuse, mainly because there is power but it still dunna work :?

Thanks for posting to help, I think I will have to get someone to look at it.
