Last year we rebuilt our gearbox and engine (at considerable expense) and, at the advice of the garage, replaced a lot of other associated parts, including clutch and turbo. After some nagging teething problems we finally seemed to have got all our problems sorted and have enjoyed three or four months of trouble free touring. That was until yesterday when the oil light suddenly came on and started flashing intermittently. I pulled over as soon as it was safe to do so. Nasty pool of oil on the road and oil everywhere - the oil pressure pipe that connects between oil filter housing and the turbo had failed.

Towed to garage. Clear the part was not replaced when all the rebuilding work was carried out - likely cause of failure was corrosion.

Question one - should the garage doing all the rebuilding work have replaced this part too?

Question two - Where can I get a replacement - currently out of stock at justkampers?

Any help greatly appreciated. We don't seem to be very lucky with our T25 - now referred to as "that infernal van" in our household.

I had the same problem a couple of years back, and also thought corrosion was the probable cause. However I now believe it was because a few weeks earlier I had omitted to refit the pipe support bracket. This allowed the unsupported pipe to vibrate and eventally crack with metal fatigue.

Check yours has the support bracket fitted, if not this may have been the cause. It is a known issue, see the Brickwerks site and their new pipe fitting instructions.

I replaced mine with a flexi pipe custom made by a local hydraulic pipe supplier.

Hope you didn't continue for too long with the oil light on and the rest of the engine is ok. Mine ran for 5-10 seconds with oil light on and has been fine for last two years.

Many thanks, really appreciate your information and advice. I'll certainly check whether the bracket was fitted - it would be truly awful if this problem had been caused by the garage being negligent.

I had to drive nearly a mile before it was safe to stop, but very slowly. The light wasn't on all the time, it flashed intermittently and the engine sounded okay. I just pray there isn't any serious damage. We've had nothing but bad luck with this van and our money has completely run out now - and I've just been made redundant.
