Porsche alloys

Hi Guys

I've just bought a 1990 Autosleeper high top and I'm looking at getting some Porsche Boxter alloys, 205/16 fronts and 225/16 rears.

Brickworks do adaptors for these so I know they will fit but reading a few of the posts on here I see there are concerns about the weight rating of the tyres.

I assume my van weighs in the region of 2.5 tons so will these wheels and tyres be up to the job? I've seen quite a few vans with similar wheels and tyres off Audis and Porsches and Mercs so it must work for them??

Thanks

Peter

Until they have an accident. If the tyres are below the recommended rating. Then their insurance company can and will no doubt void their insurance. You really need a load rating of 97 on these vans. You could always ask your insurers if its ok with them,to fit what you intent to fit.

I checked the load ratings for tyres and apparently 91, which is usual on car tyres, takes a weight of 615kg. So x 4 = 2460KG. The gross vehicle weight of my van is 2360kg so in theory it should be OK but as you suggest I will check with the insurance company. Better safe etc. I'm also assuming the tyres are good for 170mph which is handy.
