Clunk clunk

Hi everyone

Hope you all had fun a camper jam if you went, we had a great time.

However I experienced some juddering when pulling away a couple of times from junctions.

It felt like clutch judder maybe, but not sure, I did change the clutch and pressure plate spiggot bearing and had the flywheel skimmed last year so think it is unlikely.

Could it be engine or gearbox mounts?

I do get a clunk clunk noise when I accelerate and lift foot of the pedal, so I think it may be a mount of some discription.

It's an 2ltr Aircooled T25 LHD Westy.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers Jay

engine mounts are shagged mate
you should not be able to rock the engine more than an inch by hand.. try it

other causes are oil contaminating the friction plate from a gearbox or crankshaft seal leak

Hi Kev

Is that front to back or side to side movement, and where is the best place to hold the engine to rock it from?

Is there just 2 mounts that need to be replaced on the engine if it is the cause? is it an easy job or engine out?

Cheers for reply.

side to side holding the exhaust headers.
4 mounts on the carrier and one on the gearbox

Cheers

So is it engine out or box or can they be jacked up and new mounts slipped in?

No need to remove the engine
As you say support it and remove the carrier
fiddly with the engine in place and exhaust on ... but doable

mounts available from Brickwerks.

GSF mounts are crap

I lowered my engine a little and removed the silencer
