Insurance in London?

Is anyone here getting decent insurance with on-street parking in London W5? I was turned down by Glynwood because I don't have off-street parking. The name Adrian Flux pops up quite a lot, any good? I'm collecting my first syncro

on Thursday. Can't wait!

I insured with Adrian Flux two weeks ago, before I had even bought my van. I found them incredibly helpful when I called them (on a weekend) and my documents were emailed to me within half an hour. I also found the prices very competitive - in fact I am so impressed with them I am going to get them to quote me for my car which is up for renewal shortly.

When I was in SE London I had two Syncros and a Golf insured with Glynwoods, parked on-street. Maybe it was OK 'cos I have a few grey hairs..

Aian flux screwed my royally. Make sure the policy includes agreed value. The idiots didn't tell me it wasn't included even when I asked for the agreed value form. They waited until after the cooling off period to tell me it wasn't included then had the cheek to offer to cancel the policy and find me another. It would have cost me hundreds to change. I was at risk of losing thousands had something gone wrong. My van is highly modified so why would anyone offer insurAnce without agreed value. How otherwise would they value it
Won't use this tossers again

IME one has to read vehicle insurance proposals and schedules etc very carefully as they frequently 'forget' to include what was agreed over the phone.. I've had this with Glynwoods, who to be fair are just brokers so can't be totally to blame.Their 'camper van' policy changed recently and at renewal time, I was going to lose my 'driving other vehicle' cover, but they took it up on my behalf and came back to me saying they'd managed to get it included

I've gone with Just Kampers and have found out that they are basically Adrian Flux. Day 2 of my policy and my van is sitting outside my house with an insured value of £1500

Now I have to wait until they agree on the value . It's a feckin crooked system to not agree a value before issuing the policy ffs. Still, I've got 12 days to cancel as long as it doesn't get nicked

My policy says the value that I stated in my call to them - is this the agreed value or is there something else in the small print?

Afraid not. You usually need to include 6 photos before getting an agreed value. If your van gets stolen you will get book value which is probably next to nothing despite the fact you probably paid considerably more for the vehicle and could not replace it with the money they give you. They use the value you give them to calculate the premium I bet. The more you say you paid the more they charge you.
I once calculated a premium on one of the sites and changed the voluntary excess from 0 up to £1000 and guess how much the premium changed. £0. The moral of this story is to ask the broker to calculate the premium for different volutary excesses.
Insurance companies are crooks.

Invest a few hundred in a tracker, alarm and immobiliser and you should find a few more open doors.
