Hi, Ive recently bought an 84 dg 1900 with auto transmission. Paid £475 and it was delivered on a low loader with a seized engine. Hadnt moved for 7 years.
Ive got as far as rebuilding the engine, it runs but not 100 per cent. Only thing left is the carb adjustments and the electronics.
Apart from that, when put into drive it either stalls the engine or leaps forward (or backward). Icannot road test with no mot or tax, so its up and down the drive.
The transmission oil has always looked clear and red. I have changed it as well.
Haynes manual has a small section on adjusting the selector rod but this makes no difference. Any ideas?

Hi there - you just posted over on my recent thread about our automatic. I am afraid that you sound much more experienced than us - in fact see the mechanical thread I have just started.

There are a few on here with automatics who replied to me when I was considering buying an automatic - I am sure they will check in soon.
