T25 1600 diesel to 1900 diesel engine swap

Hi everyone i,m new to the forum , i own an A reg T25 1600 diesel ( non turbo ) and it is,nt running well and i,m wanting to change the engine , i have visited the local breakers yards and have found a complete engine out of a 1.9 diesel skoda felicia , the guy says its £200 and it,ll fit in but i dont wanna pay for it and spend all the time arsing about trying to fit it if it wont fit , i,m not sure of the engine code of the new engine but the 1600 one thats in there is CS , i might be able to find out the engine code at work on monday if that would help , any info you guys could give would be very greatfully recieved

The 1y 1.9d conversion from the 1.6 cs is fairly straight forward there are hundreds of posts and plenty of advice on here, it is not just a straight forward change over there are things like inlet manifold, dipstick, pump to conceder but you will not regret it.

Hi the engine is an AEF is this the same as the 1Y ?

AEF is from a polo with the dipstick on the opposite side to a CS and will need the block drilling for the dip stick and tapper for the original hole to be fitted with a bolt. Bit of arsing around with the pump due to electrics, but can be fitted, but finding a 1Y would make things easier.
