Will a Solex 34 PICT 3 fit?

My van currently has a Solex 34 PICT 4 carb fitted to it. Due to its problems I am trying to find a replacement at the moment. Does anybody know if the Solex 34 PICT 3 carb will fit? And if so what is the difference?

Thanks

Hello,

Is this on a 1600 CT engine. :?:

The 34 pict 3, as fitted to bay engines will need a lot of modifying to fit. The main problem being that the throttle linkage is on the 'wrong' side. :?

Also you will need a spacer on your inlet manifold to clear the underside of the carb.

What is 'wrong' with your carb. :?:

All overhaul parts are available from the States, as they were used on the '74 super beetle.

There are too many pipes on the stock system, aicleaner, vacuum feed and so on, renew these (4 mm braided pipe)

I run the stock 34 4 on a CT, but with mechanical ignition, so the retard damper system has to be sealed off.

I run at 8' btdc, 45' dwell, returning 28 mpg, max 75 kph in 3rd, max speed,(unladen) 113 kph.

Cordialement,

:ok

I had the same question. That was useful thanks. I have twisted the the throttle spindle during an overhaul. Looking for a new carb now for my ct brick.
