Is This Normal

First of many maybe daft questions as a new Syncro owner.
If i jack up one of the front wheels, should i be able to rotate it? Its 4wd with front and rear diff locks.
As it is i cannot rotate the wheel, does this mean front diff lock is stuck on? When driving it doesnt feel like front diff is locked.

if you can't rotate a free wheel then the VC is very tight, you should be able to slowly rotate it using the diameter of the wheel to gain leverage, with one front and one rear wheel in the air you should be able to spin those wheels with difflocks off and check each diffflock by engaging in turn and the freewheeling wheels will again lock regardless of whether front or rear difflock engaged as drivetrain then locked to whichever axle's wheel is on the ground, hope this makes sense

I can only just rotate a front wheel and that is with a new VC.

So if i have a tight VC is that something to worry about? Does it mean im putting strain on transmission when on grippy surface. Should i be doing something about it?
What about a de-coupler?

It will be noticeably worse after a bit of a drive, with the transmission up to temperature if it's anything like mine.
For example: When cold, I can (just) rotate a wheel or the propshaft with a spanner, full lock manoevers on tarmac with A/T's loads things up enough to need a bit of right pedal and after a good motorway run of say 90 mins three-point turns on tarmac are pretty well impossible.
I interpret the VC as tight, so a deco is on the cards as it performs really well off-road (well it's impressed me anyway)

Who supplies de-couplers and what do they cost? How are they opperated?

Before you write off the VC, drive it for a while. You might find it's ok. You'll know if you've got a problem. A decoupler is about the same price as getting a new VC, so draw your own conclusions on that. Put decoupler in the search bar, quite a talked about subject

If you look on http://www.campervanculture.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; their is a video showing you how to do it yourself etc....
It's not that hard to do.

Some say rebuilding a VC is hard to do!!

Mr Baxter among others supplies recon units and 'the grumpy old man' in Switzerland rebuilds them ....

I thought that they were "no surcharge" not that long ago, or did I dream it?
