Early or late brakes....
Early (square brake pads and fixed twin pot calipers)
Late (cresent shaped pads, floating calipers with one piston)
Change over? not absolutely sure but mid 80's.
Seriously not worth buying non branded discs/pads, it worth paying the extra for Pagid/brembo otherwise you will be cursing the squeels and squeeks 6 months down the line.

I have Just replaced my front Discs, Pads, Bearings and Calipers 1986 late version, I got the Discs and Bearings from BRICKWERKS and Ferodo Pads and rebuilt Calipers from a local Motor factor (EKs for what its worth).
Not a lot of difference in prices between BRICKWERKS and the local motor factor, just that it was a Friday when I needed the Pads and Calipers and I was able to order them Friday afternoon and pick them up Saturday therefore job done in one weekend and no need to await delivery, that said I had excellent service from both outlets
