2.1dj engine very slow under load?

I have a 1989 2.1dj petrol t25. I am at the end of my tether! The van idles really well but when in gear it is very slow on the uptake (as in very little power). Someone mentioned the exhaust may be blocked but it is only two month old? has anyone else had this issue. I have changed many parts but with still no luck!
Many thanks.

recently timmed for 98ron gas(10 deg btdc) and mines flying like never before!!...staying in 3rd and revs clinbing where i used to have to drop to 2nd...so fantastically better it aint true......cant see how an exhaust could get blocked..could have a stuck valve though possibly or crappy dizzy cap. always best to theck the obvious things first though. found during the mot that my front brakes were binding due to caliper crust!..in 9 years i'd never touched them...that'll do it!!!!!....that must have been sapping loads.

It's manual, accelerator cable is on the right. Will investigate further this weekend...

We KNOW where it should be

... Is it fitted correctly ? if it is slack the pedal will take up the play while you go nowhere.
