Having always had Aircooled and now in a watercooled I cant help wondering if it is normal for your fan to come on when you park your van? Ive only been about ten mile?

yes, quite normal........ the rad fan is operated by a switch in the rad, not from the engine temp, so if the rad reaches the switchpoint the fan wil go.

Yes quite normal when the weather (ambient temperature) is warm, the gauge will have risen to over half and the first speed is kicking in.

I was starting to think my fan was missing.until I read that it kicks in past half way, havent gone past half way yet but have heard some run happy at three quarters .

Thanks. Im still getting to know the van and as you know its not been behaving itself so paranoia is beginning to set in.
