Hi Guys

Just returned from a trip to Spain and France. Here are a few numbers that may be of interest.

Avg lowest petrol cost per litre: Spain 1.328 euros (£1.20) France 1.489 euros (£1.35) these prices were found mainly at Supermaket fuel stations. Saw prices as much as 10 - 15 cents higher in Spain and 15 - 20 cents higher in France.

Travelled by ferry from Plymouth to Santander on the outward and Cherbourg to Poole via High speed ferry on the return. Ruby(2.1 Westy Atlantic) and 2 adults + 2 berth cabin on outward cost £587 return.

Campsites we used, ranged from 13 euros inland to 29 euros by the coast per night in Spain and 15 - 35 euros in France.

In total we travelled 3622kms(2250mls) using 415ltrs(91gls) averaging 11.5 litres per 100 kms which equates to 24.6 mpg. 8)

Hope the stats maybe useful

Steve

ps only used the peage once from Logrono to Zaragoza, cost 12.75 euros(£11.50)

good stuff - always good to get an update on things like fuel prices - France is just as expensive as here for fuel then.

Very interesting, thanks.

Your ferry prices look really good, were doing a trip later in the year and the quotes for a single Bilbao to Portsmouth is more than your return, only difference is a trailer which doesnt make that much or a difference, say £200.

Have come back today from trip around Normandy. About 1500km in France over 10 days. Cost of diesel for the 1415km after my first fill up until final topup at calais was 157 euro for 120 litres. Saw quite a few supermarkets selling diesel at E1.25 and petrol at E1.40 per litre.
Cost of campsites - 15 to 17 Euro per night for two adults and a toddler mostly in 3 star sites near coast with swimming pools etc but mostly without paying extra hookup. Prices will be about 20-25% higher from now though as the French hols have started and I was paying low season rates last week everywhere except the last night.
Took the Eurotunnel for first time using £40 quids worth of Tesco vouchers to cover the £157 it would have cost.

PS Passed a couple of UK reg Westys in convoy yesterday on the banks of the Seine near Jumieges. Wonder if it was anyone from here.
