Non starting but can hear relay click

Hi all. On Saturday my van started playing up. I could and can hear it click from the one relay in the black plastic box to the left and right at the back of the van. I played with some wiring ( scotchlocks

) and got it running. Died again and got it running again twice. Now it wont start at all. But the relay still clicks. What is the relay? or could it be the other voltage regulator??? to the side of it?

That relay (relay No 1) is for the inlet manifold/choke heater.
it is switched from the temp sensor (not the temp gauge sensor) it turns the manifold/coke heater off at 85 deg C
I would suggest you start by cleaning up the earth and power contacts at your battery, gearbox nose and the starter motor,
Till they shine...

Shall do.
Thanks
In the 2nd pic these I have been told are buggers for breaking. Could it be that too?

Update.
I took all the scotch locks off and soldered the joints. Had it up and running till I put all the wiring back in the box and it died then nothing. Well... other than the clicks from the relays again
Today checked a few joins and re soldered them, not very well I admit because I am using a naff soldering iron. It tried powering up, the engine was turning but needed more juice to kick in. Then nothing again
Got the hump with it now
