Hello all

Just went to replace fuel hose and nipple on fuel tank snapped of due to being made thin by rust!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need a new tank, who apart from VW - either to hard to find or very expensive, make a good replacement - i have foung JK, VWHeritage and Justwatercooled sell them, but what is the best quality? Any suggestions.

Also once I have one, is it a good idea to paint it or cover it with waxoil?

Many thanks

1986 watercooled 1.9 petrol 48MM petrol tank inlet

I got mine from Euro Car Parts about a year ago (around £90), it was one of the better JesseLai branded tanks that fit well, can't remember exactly but the other aftermarket brand (sounds German) avoid... as there have been issues with reliability and fitting.
The tank comes in 'Primer' so definately need additional protection, I painted mine with Hamerite smooth black and once dry, sprayed it with rubberized underbody spray.

You know me Aidan, always trying to save a few quid. I'm pretty sure the Euro Car Parts tank was the same make as Brickwerks ones...However, there is no questioning Brickwerks fast and knowledgable service....in other words, if you need advice and a better chance of getting the correct part first time...then they could be a better bet even if they are a few quid more.
