I've got this heater conduit thingy in my caravelle cl.


I assume i wasn't originally fitted to my bus as its a different coloured plastic from the dash and everything else, plus the mounting holes where the slots at the back where the heat comes out have been crudely drilled (it looks like they missed when they first tried to drill the mounting holes so tried again).
The rubber mat underneath has been hacked to make it fit too.

Is there any difference between the type fitted to diesel buses and petrol ones? Could i maybe have a diesel one fitted in my petrol bus which is why the rubber gaiter on the gearstick doesn't fit properly?

if the bus was originally a caravelle then it will have had the walkthrough heater channel, if you have 4 levers then definately had the heater channel, the boot looks like the one for no heater channel, just has flat edges that tuck under the floor rubber
they were fitted ontop of the rubber mats, there should be a metal plate at the back - they were fitted by hand
that's a petrol one, the diesel one is even higher
the correct boot fits to a plastic clip which fits in the hole, they are usually broken, but are available new from JK

Ahhh, that makes sense. The boot is sort of wedge shape at the base with a groove round 3 sides.

Is this the plastic clip part you mean thats normally broken?


If so i still can't see how the boot fits to it.

clip goes in the groove then the whole thing pushes into the tunnel and locks in, virtually impossible to remove without breaking once they had 20 years of heat cycling, it's obvious when you have the parts in the hand, unscrew the knob to remove the boot from the stick, do the faffy bit then slide it down and into place

Might replace the bushes and get it shifting nicely before i even contemplate fitting that then.
