Hi there. We have recently acquired a t25 1989 with the plan of it taking us around Europe for the month of August with our 10 month old daughter. We are looking for a drive away awning and I have come across a couple but was hoping for some advice/experience! The one we are really looking at is the campershop outlaw which looks like it is just what we are looking for and a decent price. However, lots of people seem to rate Khyam awnings and the one we would consider would be the driveaway sleeper but it is more expensive. My question is whether anyone has experience of campershop or whether we really need to find the pennies to stretch to the Khyam.

You sleep in the awning?

No, we don't sleep in the awning-we have a hightop. However, we want a separate room for storage and enough room for table and chairs and a play area under cover for the baby. Have you ever had a campershop awning?

I've had a similar awning to the outlaw from the same company.. the type with poles you have to put together and thread into the tent. then peg it all down.

We had it for precisely two months and sold it, we found it was a faff to put up, even worse in the wind and/or rain. it was a two person job and with the little one timing would be essential. During one heavy downpour it let a fine mist of water in, which dampened everything.

We now have a canvass awning or frame tent. stable, water tight and takes a little less time to erect especially in the wind and rain.
Kyams offer both worlds very quick frame tent with quality material that does not leak.

We found awnings are only really necessary for long stay holidays, weekends in the fine weather needed only a sun canopy and a few wind breaks.
Having only the sun canopy now we have learned to travel lighter and take less with us....

For our two week holiday we use this....plenty of room!

Kathy had the Excelsior which was on special offer .... because it's too big for a campervan and too small for a gin pallace ... the Khyam Motordome Classic is the on to have, properly pegged down they will withstand almost anything this country can throw at it.

As I've said before it's not always what you've got it's how you put it up
