Non diff-lock models?

Hi,
I've seen a nice Atlantic syncro for sale on German ebay but the owner says it's a non diff lock model. and the gears are AVF gear-system: 1 x R + 1 x G + 4 normal gears.
What are the pros and cons of non dif lock syncros? Less to go wrong or up sh*t creek without a paddle?
I'm guessing they can be retro fitted? Is that going to be expensive?
Cheers

Its nice to have at least a rear diff lock and they dont really go wrong too much.
Yes they can be retro fitted and Aidan will be along with a price ......

i certainly wouldn`t turn an atlantic without a diff lock down. it will be a million times easier to fit lockers than replicate a atlantic.
as syncropaddy said aiden can fit rear and front diff locks to your box. he`s just done my spare diff when building my tdi box.

Not bidding on just it just yet but seriously considering it. Looks very nice but could(will) go high.
I'm going to see the joker today at some point. Looks hopeful but like you say, it needs some work. Not sure how much though

Price depends on how badly you want a westy syncro
You could end up spending the same again over the next couple of years. But it's probably worth 14-15k if was perfect.
You could always pm Steve at gasure, and ask him about condition.
I'd be viewing it if I didn't have one already.

A lot of people quote these figures but has anyone actually sold one for this figure? Me too, although I think it is a little opptimistic.
The rust looks pretty bad in the pics. Make sure you check where the high top meets the gutters. Especially at the front. Pull down the sun visors and check there too. It' s a big job to remove the roof.
That said I would be having a look too but I think the wife would leave me!!

Then there's Dave's AKA wolfsburg_willy's leisuredrive syncro in Cumbria. Seems to have all the hard work done except the interior which I could do myself. I like the westfalia but i have no intention of spending 6-7k getting one perfect. I'm tempted by the petrol/lpg because I'd like to put a subaru in at some point but I guess I could go mTDI with the diesel instead. Dave's is certainly a nice looking van.
