Early Zig unit question Split Charge RM12?

Hi, I have a Supercharger Model MCF 5 made by Peter Everard from Stroud. I guess it is an early zig unit and I have a question so please bear with me.
There is a switch under the steering wheel which is connected to a Zig RM12 relay. The wires can then be traced up to under the cooker where they have been cut and do not go up to the charger unit.
Could I reroute these wires and attach them (via a fuse) direct to the leisure battery or should I reattach them to the unit? Could I use this relay (RM12) or is it not strong enough? I have read the wiki but only the CF8 is covered and the split relay looks simple but would like a definite answer please.
Thanks,
