Omaha beach is a lovely place (for a day on the beach) there's a landscaped carpark just back from the beach itself with a memorial at a gun emplacement and you used to be able to overnight there. The American cemetery is a couple of miles away and round the corner at Grandcamp Maisey there's a large museum. If you get the All The Aires book there are lots of Aires in and around the Normandy beaches area if you fancy a couple of nights wild camping.
We stayed on sites at Honfleur
http://www.camping-honfleur.com/GB_index.asp Honfleur is beautiful and the site is very friendly. And at
http://www.lepuits.com/en/ the owners a bit of a "cock" but the site and surroundings are very nice.

The Camping Municipal Arromanches is a great site & it's inexpensive. There is also an Aire de Service in the village. There is a small supermarket & a boulangerie nearby. On the main street there are various restaurants & bars. Don't forget to visit the superb Musee Du Debarquement.
A British chap has opened up the Maisy Battery just inland from Grandcamp Maisy & I understand that it is well worth a visit. Unfortunately, I didn't hear about this until it was too late. There is a new museum at Pegasus bridge which may be worth a visit. There is a German battery at/near Mereville. One of the best D Day museums is on the old N13 at Bayeux.
