My new Diamond RV PROJECT in Bakerloo Brown !

So is old the high top as it needed a lot more work than i thought and so i bought a Diamond RV.

Never even heard of them before but with all the history there are drawings of the different layouts you can have with this conversion, if anyone likes i can scan them and upload to the wiki unless they are already on there.

Anyway, she needs the back interior sorting, i have the rock and roll bed,the fridge, cooker and sink but need to make all the cupboards etc, so ill be searching the site for threads about home made interiors. If anyone knows one please send me the link I have 6 weeks to sort this as we are off camping, nothing like a deadline to meet (story of my life)!

So my plan is to keep adding photos showing what ive been up to. First job is to check the electrics before i get too creative, oh and put a nice white coachline on the empis. :)

4 weeks left till camping so i made it look more like a camper -

So i cut up some cupboards
Image

then decided on the layout, i was going to have the fridge on the left but this meant i had to make a wooden end and this would have wasted some expensive material so my wife suggested positioning it centrally :) Thumbs up from Finley
Image

I made sure i double checked everything...
Image

and then it was good and my family could see i wasnt a dreamer
Image

Lovely sunny day on the island
Image

Sunday began (after the car boot sale) with tedious cardboard templates to create the correct (ish) shape
Image

and then it was good and the zig is in too
Image

i have plans for the cupboard door this week but need to get back on to carpoeting the rest iof the interior as well :D

:D

Blimey that brings back memories of last winter messing around with my DiamondRV.

Currently mine is in a usable state and now work has stopped....We are stealing ourselves for the MOT next month.....I am also poised for a rustoleum paint job. See the wheel post.

Once the MOT is behind us we will take stock and continue with the conversion.

I only had half of the cover that hides the fibreglass/roll bar

Image

So i made one out of hardboard and timber then covered with pincord

Image

Not 100% with it but it will do for now...

Image

Then i made some chipboard shelves for where Diamond RV cut the roof off

Image

Done

Image

I Finished the cupboard construction, the raw edges will be covered with 1.5mm ali, oh and i fitted the 4 way Lidl bought switch

Image

Fitted some edge trim courtesy of the sheet metal shop at work

Image

Then fitted some Ebay LEDs , theres more to fit as well as the spots when they arrive

Image

I still have a fair bit to do before my August holiday and it wont be perfect but it will look a lot sweeter :D

this week and today -

had some ali folded at work to fit to the bottom of the cupboards
Image

Image

fitted some ali strips on the raw edge for the wardrobe door (this will not be hinged.....)
Image

made an led enclosure for the tailgate and fitted it at a slight angle, ignore the screws as in time ill replace them all with nicer ones
Image
Image

started and finished the wiring for the lights, now i know what the electrical term 'common' means, thanks dad x
Image

so i got my spots and fitted them
Image

bought an old sofa bed to make some temporary cushins for the back seat and sofa and then had a brainwave
Image

all this nice powdercoated steel with hinges sort of resembles a buddy seat, so i set to work..
Image
Image
Image
Image

Just need an old chair now to rip apart.

Just under 2 weeks to go before holiday, we wont have a sink or cooker but have a stand alone one so we wont starve.
:D

i had another vision and found a nice headboard in a charity shop £20
Image

slightly wider and longer than needed so i worked out the size i needed allowing for the overlap of the material to stretch behind
Image

peeled it all back and then cut it to size
Image

didnt have a staple gun so used carpet glue to bond the material, so thats the seat done
Image

and here is is complete, took approx 2 hours to do
Image

this will match the cream leatherette back seats im having done. :D
