emissions (M.O.T)

recently did the 10 deg timing thing to run 98ron on my 2.1dj...just had the MOT...emmisions are#
CO..........MAX LIMIT 3.5%..............actual 1.41%
HC..........MAX LIMIT 1200ppm..........actual 166ppm
is this good or too good or could i do with a bit more fuel going in???? seems all very low

@ idle those figures are fine. more importantly is the AFR ratio or lambda as some say. lambda 1 or AFR 14.7 / 1 is ideal @ idle. the hc is just wasted fuel and in your case it is low. which is good shows the burn is pretty good.

personally, I'd leave it where it is.. unless it spends most of its time at idle.....
After a good run whip a plug out, see what colour it is.. a nice tan brown colour and its fine...
