I've had the van 2.5 years now and am thinking it's time for new tyres.

Altho the tread looks okay the walls are looking a bit jaded/perished and I'm terrified of a blow out.

I'm not after anything expensive or fancy - just a good set of workhorse tyres that'll keep me safe.

Do i have to use a specialist or will Kwik Fit be able to help?

No no no never quicks...! You need commercial vehicle standard tyres to cope with the weight.

That name again, but Mike had four top quality tyres fitted for me during a service last year. I think that they were about £80 each. There will be cheaper tyres around. However my view on tyres is they are the one area of the van (other than brakes) between you and a serious crash so I always buy the best.

There's a stack out there I have firestone vanhawks. Cant complain in the wet and dry, but snow they are useless. I have had them on for about 4 years on two different vans and they still have stacks of tread on them.

I forgot to say that mine are wide tyres on alloys which is why they are more expensive and they are Goodyears. Good luck Sarah.

Thanks Patrick - van went in yesterday but Mike was running late so she's not back yet and no idea on price. He says she only needs 2 tho so that's good - was going get the anti roll bar ishoo fixed but there's no time now as we're off to Glasto Thursday and I've got to have her back today!

Ok. Funnily enough he fixed my anti roll bar the last time my van was in. Happy glasto.

Yeh it's annoying he can't do it today and then it's all done. Will have to take it back in a couple of weeks.

Dyou mind tellin me how much and if you've seen any/much improvement?

The part that I needed connects the bar to the body the 'anti roll bar drop link'. That part breaking, is evidently a common problem. I just checked on Brickwerks as I knew they were not cheap - £65 per link plus fitting. Ouch! I think that it does make a difference particularly when going round bends and roundabouts. That could be my imagination of course.

Ouch indeed! They're on an advisory. He quoted me £150 yesterday but I expect that'll go up if he has to do it as a separate job rather than as part of the servicing today.

Is your van up and ready for the glasto trip? If it is a drop link replacement £150 quote sounds about right. It is a separate piece of work from a conventional service anyway. bonne route!
