Thought I would make a little video of the new rear shock extenders that are now available. I have also included the fitting of some ball joint spacers too because the shock extenders are so easy to fit it wouldnt have had much content otherwise

I've seen these fitted on a van, nice idea but poorly executed in my eyes.
There is nothing to stop you over tightening the damper bolt and just bending the mounting tabs.
It wouldn't have taken much effort to weld a tube in the centre much like a damper bush to give you something to tighten against.
They just seem to me that the bolt will always need tightening as your only relying on a nut not coming loose rather than you being able to torque the bolt correctly.

I am really happy with them, great Idea and have worked a treat on my van, really strong too. We left it abit before we did the review just incase there was any problems and their is nothing negative as yet to report on the functioning of them (notice on the video no leaves on the trees, it was winter time ) .

Didn't watch the video, just going from the ones I had seen.
If no problems then that's just awesome, ignore my post above it's obviously not an issue.

when I needed new rear shocks and wanted a bit more articulation, I fitted some of Brickies AVO longer adjustables.. lovely job.....

Extenders are cheaper if you already have new or newish shocks tho

Regarding the Avo's.
Discounting the extra length are they like a HD shock or is the damping just harder?
I had a pair of 2WD van-magnums on the rear when I bought it and had topping out problems, topping out problems aside the ride was fantastic.
Would a pair of these AVo's give as smooth a ride or just harden the ride, if you know what I mean?

Avos are adjustable damping, only issue seems to be the polybush eyes wear, Simon/AVO is on with improvement.
Genuine dampers in all three shades(Std,HD,16") available from classic but you need to sell the kids first to buy a set of 4

2wd shocks will always top out, they are shorter...
I have Van magnums on the front, nice shocks, firm damping.. but not harsh...
AVO's adjustable rears.. soft and squidgy to nice and firm.. I havent really exprimented with them, but when fully loaded cranked them up a few clicks and improved the ride and handling.. normally empty/offroad, run them at 3 or 4 clicks from min..

I have a pair of Brickies AVOs. Lovely to drive one. The van is much more stable on the road now. My only criticism is that the finish hasn't lasted. Only one year on and they are covered in surface rust.

So the bushes don't last and they start rusting after a year!
Think I will be getting a set of Van-Magnums then.
Think the Van-Magnums are around £250 for all four with free shipping, were onl £200 last time I looked.

mine have been on a couple of years I think (might be a little less) bushes seem fine.. finish, well rusting where the cover slides over and has worn the paint off.. but dont seem to bad, I didnt waxoil them like I intended to before fitting...

I would buy them again. They perform really well. The difference from the stock ones was very pronounced.

The rear avo's on mine have worn the paint where the cover slides. at the front the
Bushes worn a bit but they totally transformed the way my van drove. Ride height easily adjustable and damping cab be set between soft and very stiff. I'll be getting another set for the doka. Avo can re valve to suit any spring too.
