Hi
my 2.0l CU Aircooled has developed a back rock (L to R) when starting
my guess its engine mounts? without being able to get underneath it for the moment i'm unsure
question being, where to get new engine mounts, and does it require engine out to replace? or can i do it engine in situ one by one??
thanks

Engine mounts are readily available from Brickwerks and VW heritage.
More faffing about with it in but not difficult.
Just drop the carrier and change the mounts

Usually with vacuum gauges.

Very much so. I had a badly rocking engine from the day I bought the van, so much so I thought it was either normal or my engine mounts were knackered. Once I had the carbs refurbed and balanced the engine stopped moving at all.
So I'd definately have the carbs checked for leaks and have them rebalanced before dropping the engine to change the mounts unnecessarily.

It say's wbx ... i.e. watercooled ... but they are the same for all petrol engine bars. GSF do them too but they had a bad batch (how often have we heard that of late

) and they were a barsteward to fit, Brickwerks ones are a good fit.
