2.1 DJ idle speed?

More of an idle musing than a real problem...

When first starting from cold, the idle's really low (~750rpm) and lumpy. It quite quickly smoothes out, but once it's up to temp, it seems too high - 1200rpm or so.

I gave the idle air valve a good clean with carb cleaner, but since the idle speed's otherwise very stable and doesn't hunt, I don't think that's it. There's no other real odd symptoms that'd suggest the coolant temp sender (wherever it may be hiding...) is iffy, and economy's decent enough - near 'nuff 25mpg, it seems - but I've not measured the sender's resistances or done any other real diagnostics yet.

Any thoughts?

Coolant temp sender is on thermostat housing, 900RPM +-100 is correct idle from memory. there is idle adjustment screw on the front of the metal intake thingy, cant remember what its called, the bit that would be where the carb is!

Makes sense. The furthest, deepest, least accessible bit - which I've not long had everything around off, making it far easier to get to...

I'll have a rummage for an air leak - I wasn't overly impressed by the security of the plumbing to the engine side of the AFM, so could easily be that.

I think you can spray a bit of wd40 to find leaks. never worked for me but I've heard it mentioned before.
