Camping very close to Norwich

Hello All,

I'm going to be in the Norwich area a lot during the Winter and Spring. I know of a camp site on the south side of Norwich, but does anyone know if it's possible to wild camp anywhere - not too far from the city? Any suggestions would be welcomed!

Just a warning - that campsite can be quite noisy as it is only a stone's throw from the A47 bypass. I work in a school about 10 minute walk from there so remind me when you are about and we can swap camper notes!!

I will put my thinking cap on for wild camp spots but nothing really springs to mind to be honest. But then I haven't really camped around here as I have a house to go to!!! How far outside of the city would you be prepared to go and what part of the city will you need to get to regularly - 'cos it's a real bummer getting across the city if you need the other side to where you are staying?

Yeah, I know it's a pain getting cross town in Norwich. I'll be spending the odd week at the University, so some place on the Western side of town would be good. I don't mind the idea of going to a certificated site at Wymondham, but I am a bit skint, so wild camping might be attractive for a few days at a time. Yes, please do put your thinking cap on!

Thanks for this! I've looked at it before, but I see that there are more sites - and one near UEA. I shall have a good butchers...

Thanks,
Sal

That's exceedingly kind, I would like very much to take you up on your offer for the odd night. But you say that your wife cycles to UEA every day.., from Wymondham? Isn't that a bit of a hike? When I stayed in Norwich last winter, I was based in digs in Taverham and I cycled along Marriots Way, but that was flat and around 6 miles to the Uni. To be honest, I'm a wimp and I found it a bit too much in the end.

Thanks for this.
