If its a good conversion done right its not too dear. I believe Westys are hard to convert over unless you got ALL the bits and even the roof! Certainly looks clean

Some very good restoration work being done in the former Czech states. I want a nice Tatra 613-5, the only air-cooled I'd ever consider :ok

Seen this in the flesh, nice looking van. Don't know if it's worth 12k though, suppose it depends if the running gear is sorted

I'm thinking about going to have a look at this. Don't like the price though.
The owner sent some before 'n' after pics. Here's one of the roof.

Say you had a "sorted van". What would be the cost of a westy pop top and interior taking into account you'd fit it yourself?

We saw this van a couple of months ago and it can be seen 1:50 into this video, http://campervanculture.com/2011/03/syn ... world-sho/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

probably round 2k plus fitting, depending on colours of westy interior

What did you think to it, good conversion?

We had a brief look round it, and it kind of stood out as having re-spray but I guess thats down to the owner keeping on top of the polishing etc. The interior was OK but it had a weird feature on the back of the wardrobe, it didnt have a shelf :? I think the kitchen block is a genuine Westy one but I think the roof and the rear units where Mosaic, nothing to offensive. I didnt see the engine running and spoke to the sellers mate who came out with the usual, "it pulls like a train" that you usually get from Aircooled owners :lol:

If it was for sale for £9000 I bet it would sell, it as way off at the £14000 it was for sale for at the show we saw it at. At the same show Jake and I had a fella ask us to find him a good Syncro, we found him a Syncro with Westy pop top MTDI engine, £1000 worth of winch, Sikel Springs OME shocks, new BFG tyres, Mefros, etc etc for just over £9000. I know what van I would have spent my money on but if anyone is seriously thinking of buying one there is a lot of sh!te out there and the Red one is a fair van, but is it worth the £12k? you decide.....

I think it's still way off at £12k. More like £8-9K. Does anyone here know this van?

Seems to be on and off ebay quite alot.

BTW - What's "Mosaic"?

Mosaic was / is a kit that you can use to convert a tin top to Westy pop top. Without cutting the full roof hole as Westy did. I don't like them but it's personal choise. If it has been mosaiked that would explain for the lack of rear roof cupboard. Original Westy had flat rear section. Tin top and mosaik keep the curved rear section.
