Window rubber sizes

Sorry to ask yet another window seal question but all the answers i've seen dont quite seem to cover it.

I have a converted panel van so I know which style of seal to get, and will probably be getting it from http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk

but having looked at the options for different size gaps, i'm unsure which thickness to get http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/bbCMS/shop ... rtmentId=4

I got the micrometer out and the glass is about 3.8-4mm thick and the metal body panel was about 1.8-2mm thick.

Which thickness seal do i need for this? Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi,

I would get WR 63. Note what is said at the top of the Seals Direct page about gap sizes. You might find the 1.6mm on WR62 a bit tight.
I always silcone my seals after insertion, a bit belt & braces I know. I think Seals Direct recommend sealant.

Seals direct CAN be very useful sometimes but if you can get the right ones from Schofield, don't mess about. Any financial saving buying seals by the metre can soon be lost in the time and effort cutting to exact right length and gluing ends up. Same goes for most seals to be honest. The difference between original and pattern seals is so vast, and since it will probably be the last time they are ever replaced, just get the right seal and pay the extra. Been there, done that one.

On a panel van conversion, are all windows exactly the same size across different conversions then?

Well I will have to withdraw my offer to sell a superior seal for it has been pointed out that its worth paying extra for the right seal (which mine are but havent been viewed ) :(
it must follow that all vans have the same size windows as it would appear only worth buying seals made up to length so lets hope so,
saves me money as I was doing at cost plus post.
sorry keytouch best get onto schofields :D

I could be wrong but I thought schofields supplied the same rubber as jk and the jk ones I got have been a nightmare to fit.
Like I said I could and usually are wrong.

I haven't said where I want to get mine from, but if the offer has been withdrawn...
...and doing jobs to my camper is my hobby, so I enjoy spending my time doing things like cutting and glueing. If only I actually had any time to use the camper as well!

Well i've got my window rubbers from Mike, all i can say is, brilliant.
Seem really good quality with a nice bend radius.

I thought they were good value when I ordered them off Mike, but as he managed to source them cheaper than he originally stated I even got a refund of some money! :D
Absolute bargain.

If anyone needs window rubbers for a panel van conversion, then Mike would be a good option of who to talk to.

Now i've sung his praises, when i eventually start doing some serious bodywork hopefully the advice will be plentiful. :ok
