hey,
well the vans just been in the garage now and they said it would cost 'mega bucks' to have a look at it and they said they're not even gonna strip it cause it would cost far too much...any suggestions on what to do now?

whats mega bucks? get it to Elite VW in Essex and get them to put a recon lump in for £6-800
get the AA to relay it. BTW what would be a good way to disable your engine so it requires recovery. ie so it cant be got going again on the side of the road?

Something like the engine in the 'somewhat chewed' thread should do it!
Apparently it was all down to not changing the oil enough... Went all gunky and blocked up the flow. You can see what happens when you don't get oil in the right places!

no i mean temporarily disable it so AAman has to recover you not so you permanently wreck your engine. you want an engine to exchange at the other end.

disconnect the earth lead for the ignition amp, brown wire on top of lh head, wont run then........

If you want a guaranteed recovery say there is a brake problem. I understand they won't touch brakes and just take you where you want to go.
If you want to disable the engine just let me change it for you, it'll take months to get going again
