Updating an interior..

My T25 is being restored at the moment, although the interior has become a bit of an afterthought. I have a quote for £750 to replace all the carpeting/lining which really needs doing as it is degrading and falls to bits if you touch it! The interior generally looks solid enough, but has been retro fitted with very dodgy pine door cupboards. I don't want to spend another grand or more for a new interior. Do you think it would be possible to have the interior updated, new cupboard doors, new vinyl/laminate covering but keeping all the carcass? If so, does anyone know anywhere I could get it done?

they look like stardard doors so measure um up and nip to b&q etc and find some you like in the same size?

Could do, but would like all the rest recovered too, and I'm not exactly handy (If I try DIY something ends up bleeding or on fire). Think I would rather hand it over to someone to do the lot. I just want to avoid ripping what is otherwise a good interior out, want to make good and update what is already there.

Also - does 750 for the carpet lining sound right?

too much...IMHO

Take a look in your local Ikea for cupboards and stuff like that.
they have little compact units for bedsitlanders.

I thought it was a bit pricey, but my first camper so not sure what to expect. Can anyone recommend someone for doing the carpet lining in the South East?

Have looked at vinyl wrap costs, and you're right the cupboards should be easy enough to replace, so perhaps not beyond the relms of possibility for me to do it myself *gulp*

Can't you at least do the carpet yourself? More time consuming than difficult and you'd save yourself £750. Lining carpet isn't that expensive.

I thought the carpet looked more complex, covers pretty much all up the sides, the roof etc, and i think it would need to be done properly for it to look the mutts nuts, and like i say, i would probably injure myself :D

Thinking i can sort the interior furniture out. If anyone wants to do the carpeting for me I will happily make tea and, pass Stanley knife and pay handsomely, although ideally not 750!

Re carpeting
* Pull old carpet off carefully
* Place on the new carpet
* draw a line around shape of old carpet
* cut out the new carpet to the old carpet shape
* glue back of new carpet and on van interior
* place new carpet in position and smooth out wrinkles from the middle
* spend £750 on new cabinets and beer

Hmmm put like that, even I could do that without causing too much harm, although probably still some.

Saving money to buy beer is obviously simply genius.

You make it sound so easy.... is it really that easy? I am looking to do the same with my beauty.... one question though... how do you stop the new carpet fraying at the edges?

only seen the one in my van, which is already fitted and has a lovely neat edge.... just thought when most fabrics are cut, they tend to fray.... if this doesn't then fab... your instructions will also save me a heap of money!

the interior carpet I have seen is backed with some kind of bonded rubbery plastic stuff, that is quite pliable and certainly not hessian
It cuts easily with large dress making shears, no knives needed.

You're a superstar Kevtherev!!!! wouldn't have known where to begin to look for the stuff! Now saved in my favourites ready for when I've got my van to the stage of sorting the interior... which will hopefully be very soon! :D
