CVC bodge

Got the dreaded 'cluck cluck' of a failing CVC joint but hadn't the time (or the inclination) to replace it. So, got a 300ml can of 3in1 aerosol copper spray grease from JTF in Mansfield Woodhouse for about £4. Eased the gaiters in towards the joints and pushed in the spray can delivery tube as far towards the joint as I could (between the gaiter and the drive shaft). Squirted in about a quarter of the can then rotated the shaft 180 degrees and repeated; then did the same again to the other CVC. After about 300 miles over the last few days the 'cluck cluck' has completely dissapeared and not come back.
I know this is not as sensible as a proper CVC replacement but it really seems to have worked.

another quick fix is to swap the shafts over, this way they drive from the opposite face

They can go dry tho has to be said, the extra lube may still only be a temporary cure and when the noise returns its often worse. :(

I thought that copper grease isn't to be used on moving parts - akin to adding a gentle grinding paste.
