The only trouble is the extra force needed to turn the wheels unless you have power assisted steering,I agree with your comment though.

Golf wheels fit straight on. You want a spacer to keep the plastic bit from floating up out of the column though but that soesn't seem like the end of the world. Seen loads of GTI wheels used and you can get them at shows and stuff all the time. There are a couple of Vanagon wheels that are smaller and swisher, obviously designed for power steeringed busses.

I don't have a problem with the big wheel myself mind. Large vehicle, large wheel, no bother.

I had a golf GTI wheel in my van but had to take it off as my muscles aren't big enough to operate the steering with it on.

£10 quid and I'll bring it to BVF

ive had a gti wheel on mine for years, never noticed the difference Tbh, but then i'm used to driving larger things, but its so much better to drive with a sensible sized wheel on..........

Be aware that the 'Golf' or 'GTI' type wheels will obstruct your view of your dashboard warning lights. I had these fitted to my van but found them arkward and so re-fitted the 'bus wheel'.

Don-Tucker; If you decide to fit power steering, you'll have to have a mighty big wallet available.

I take your point on this one Rob but to be honest theres a certain joy in steering one-fingered which you can with the larger wheel. With the power steering models, sure fit a smaller one but you'll regret it on that Aircooled camper of yours - particularly when reverse parking:)

Bear in mind you've got the early Aircooled wheel which tends to look bigger anyway.
