wheres the thermostat on a 1y diesel?

hi there, could anybody tell me where it is spose to be, i'm concerned i dont have one?! thanks

the thermostat is directly under the alterator and is part of the water pump.cant remember off hand if you can access it from underneath but if you can remove the pipe you might be able to stick your finger in and feel for it.
to take it out (from my fading memory) you have to take the alt off and then the water pump...but ..as i say...you might be able to get at it from underneath.

oh just re-read that and 'part of the waterpump' dont mean you have to buy a new pump..its just in the pump..if you know what i mean
thats one of the problems with the water system..is that the thermostat is at the lower points of the engine,which means any crap in the system will prolly block it up and wont let it shut
