the wife went out in the bus todaY 1.6TDWESTY AND COULD NOT turn the engine off she could turn the key and take it out but the engine still keeps on runnin any clues ?????

Firstly I'd put a duplicate post in the mechanical section. I cannot emphase enough that I'm NOT mechanically minded but I have heard of this one before. Stop the engine by stalling it - 2nd gear with foot brakes hard on and let out clutch. I think when this happens the engine is using it's oil as fuel but you'll have to wait for someone with more than a pittance of knowledge like me to come along and advise you. Main thing for now is to stop the damn thing............

Maybe it's something nice and simple like the ignition switch being broke and not turning off internally despite turning the key. Think that's the best senario but like I say, I'm a mechanical muppet

my guess is the switch oil being used as fuel that scarse the sh~~~t out of me

right look at the pump, there should be a wire to the stop soliniod, check that thet is getting 12v to it with ignition on and nothing with it off, if you are getting that then it just needs a new stop soliniod, nothing to bad, I have owned vans like that and have to stall um to stop um!

what do you mean buy a stop soliniod where is it located cheers

Do you understand what a solenoid does?

i ve heard of the soliniod which is near your starter motor thats about it the bus starts ok but will not turn off

It's 50/50 between the ignition switch and the stop solenoid. Neither are too expensive to replace. Solenoid between £5 and £15.
If you remove the wire from the solenoid it should stop - if it does not the solenoid is sticking.

pulled the terminal off the solenoid and it kept on running so i guess the solenoid is stuck .found a bosch dealer and ordered a new one so hopefully i wil sort it. cheers for all your help
