Adjusting rear brakes

Hi all, my t25 is a 1984 1.9 dg engine auto, I removed the rear wheels the other day to have a look at condition of rear shoes. Found I could not remove the drums, thought I should be able to slacken off shoes but find the only hole in the back plate is for checking shoe thickness. I assume the brakes are self adjusting. How Do I get to the shoes?
If the drums are as ridged as the front discs theres going to be a huge ridge to get over.

The adjusting hole should be here. Not that easy to see from undeneath. Unless someone has put bay window backplates on and not drilled the hole,
