Hi, next week will be doing our annual trip to Nice, France. This time decided to go more west, via Geneva (instead of down the Brenner via Italy) and im looking for some recommendations for camping sites:

[*]Lake Geneva
[*]Somewhere in between Geneva and Nice, in the country side for example near Gap

I have already stayed in a very nice campsite near Nice, at Opio - http://www.camping-loreedazur.fr/french ... -dazur.htm (@43.66089,6.989536)

Hey Hi Epiphone

How are you hope you have a good trip down to Nice, well we live just down the road from Nice in Biot again not far from Opio, so hope you have a great time down here, it is red hot at the moment so bring the sun cream and say HI if you like. Well on your trip if your near geneva I recommend also lake Annecy around 40 Km from geneva lovely area and many campsites and if you like sports and cycling etc its perfect.

Also for campsites down here depends what you like nice one near us called camping du pylone, right on the coast and near to Antibes, train station 3 mins walk away so you can use the train to see everything if you wanted and beach the same, has pool, shop, restaurant and take away and swimming pool, is quite an english site as many english stay on there depends what you like i guess.

Anyhow have a safe trip we just got our T25 a hightop diesel westy from the north west of France and drove her down over 3 days all through France, it was amazing, went to St Tropez area just this weekend with another english friend with a T25 living down here. Also stayed on camping du pylone 2 weeks ago, and this weekend maybe the gorges du verdon.

say hi or give us a wave in Biot if you pass through.

Happy holidays to another T25

i found a very nice site 100 kms south of gap a couple of weeks ago, just outside gréoux les bains. i can't remember the name of it, brochure is in the bus.

on the way north again i stayed at a site in orpierre, 50 km's SW of gap and 8kms west off the road between sisteron and grenoble, very quiet too but they told me that easter was mad when 30 inglish descended on them....... :P

i should think there's plenty campsites in geneva although i've never used any. i have discretely used a quite spot for the night at the harbour a few villages before geneva tho'.

what i would suggest is maybe stopping at rolle(38 km before geneva). this is a VERY vw friendly place. :ok

Hey, I work for a company here in Munich which has offices at Sophia Antipolis and every year they have a interdepartmental football tournament in Biot, down below the huge cliff there. Its quite well organised with 500 people or so and we stay in a Villa near Vence, with its own pool, its just fantastic, expensive but we get some money from our works sports club to pay for it. Last year they paid for my petrol too, so was a free holiday. This year just paying for the Villa though.

We stayed at the place in Opio last time and found it great, cos apart from the many static caravans, there is a field at the back for tents but we were the only people there and had our own bathroom. It has a pool too and only a short drive away from Grasse.

Thanks for the recommendations, will give them a go

p.s yeah I do play guitar, played more when I was younger, but playing drums once a week in a band now actually

free wifi is quite normal here, a lot of stuff is cheaper than people would expect too. :P

Hi,

we stayed at a nice camp site at Aix en Provence tho it was about 6 yrs ago. It was on a hill just outside town and had lots of trees etc. We also stayed at a handily placed one between Nice and Cannes that was a bit bizarre and better for overnight stays, the owner looked like Cruella DeVille, complete with dyed fur poodle! It was clean tho and in a good position for visiting other places. I shall try and find the name as i have realised this isnt very helpful post
