smokey tdi

Hi all, have noticed my 1z 1.9 tdi has become smokey, black smoke, compression good, loads of power etc.. does not use loads of oil regularly serviced and done 100.000. is this ok
Or what should i look into ?

E Tdi or m Tdi? Black smoke is excessive fuel.

Hi, its a E TDI (german conversion ecu etc) had a friend behind me in wales camping the other week who also said it was a bit smokey too.
loads of power, runs nice but smokey..
any tips ?

any codes in the memory, if its etdi then you should be able to plug in a diag.

when's the last time you changed your air filter? surprising what a difference that makes

hi, next job air filter...

thanks guys.... may get vag software and plug, do people think its worth it ?

Hello,
diag plug and vag-com definitely worth it if you ask me - I'd check your intercooler pipes, and inlet post-maf and see if you have a slipped clip somewhere. Limp mode tends to kick in in higher gears and higher speeds, so you might not have caused it to kick in yet..
