So, are you asking for a pump? Or asking why it didn't work?
I presume it's got injectors and injector pipes?
If you need a pump, best bet would be to call some breakers, with the details of your engine, non turbo, TD, TDI, ect

:? Surely Petrol Pumps and diesel pumps are entirely different beasts and I couldn't even fathom how it would be possible even to fit a petrol pump to a diesel engine :? :?

Mark :ok

First thing, find out what engine you have, I see from a previous post of yours it's from a '97 so you need to find out engine type. Then post an ad in the wanted section, I can't imagine a petrol pump would work (but I'm not a mechanic) can't picture how it would fit anyhow?

ok..first things first...theres no way on earth that you will be able to get it to run with a petrol fuel pump.the pump on a diesel is integral with the timing belt.if theres no diesel pump on it then theres no timing thus no running.
as im to believe the engines from a polo will have the dipstick on the opposite side to normal and it will need to be blocked off
have you got a camera to take some pics of the engine bay with the new engine in ???

If you are confused by petrol / diesel fuel pump, was the oil pump and oil sump changed?

Sorry, but if you don't understand the basic difference between petrol and diesel engines, I seriously doubt your ability to change a lug nut. :run
Please put the man on and pics so we can understand what is, what was, and what will be.... Then maybe we can help. :ok

And put where you are located. Then maybe someone who lives nearby can help.

Where are you based? I know there is a breaker near me that had a 1.9d polo motor in as i had some of the bits off it for my 1.9. I think it had a fuel pump on it. Really easy to set up, if you know how. The engine code was AEF. If its any help feel free to give me a shout.

Your posts are difficult to understand. Try putting some punctuation in now and again! Dont mean to sound condescending but if it's hard to read then most people can't be arsed trying!
