Alternator Pulley

I have a 1988 T25 1.9 petrol

Have just bought a new Alternator from GSF after giving them number of old one

Trouble Is the pulley is different - it sticks out from unit whereas mine is flush

Instructions with it say to swap pulleys over - is this normal and correct ?

If so then whats best way of keeping thread still so nut can be loosened ?

Also old unit is 14v and new one is 12v

Sounds to me like you may have diesel alternator, I think the pulley sticks out about and Inch when you try to fit one (like I did!) so long as the pulley is the same diameter and is in the correct orientation plane for the pulley driving it it would be OK. I would want pulley to be corrct for the engine I bought it for. I think all the petrol ones are the same mechanically at least.

Thanks for that Bob - I was thinking the same
So I am assuming the unit I have fitted is the wrong one as it is 90A and should be 65a ?
Should I now be fitting a 65amp unit ?

you can fit the 90amp it was an option, basically you've got an upgrade at the cost of doing the pulley swap yourself, iirc the wiring for 65A and 90A is the same
