Dear All,

Eventually this will need to go in the Wanted section but I just want to double check first...

I have these 15" rims on my Syncro:





I believe they are from an early 90's Audi 100. The only other person on here who I know has them is Taigagreen in Norway. His are also ET 45 but he runs 25mm spacers on the fronts and 35mm on the rear. Mine seem fine without spacers but I just want to check if I should be using them.

I am looking to buy one or two spare rims as my current spare is on a 15 x 6 steel rim and is a Colway remould. I haven't had to use it yet but I guess it wouldn't be very good for the drive train. I also need to start the wheel rotation pretty soon and want to include the spare in this.

I've been looking on fleabay for a few weeks now but none have come up.

Looking at the first pic ..... are they standard nuts you are using? It also looks as though you need longer studs as the nut seems to lock out before the stud pokes through. I would run no more than 10mm spacers if I had to but Im not a fan of such devices.

Try Audi 200. I had a 200 turbo and they were fitted to that.

Will look at the Audi 200 as I've only been searching on Audi 100.

Also, I've purchased longer studs since I took those pics - I had the same thoughts! Am I right in thinking that I don't need spacers with 45 ET - they just serve to increase the track? (I don't want to be putting stuff like that on if I don't have to).

If the wheels/tyres are not rubbing anywhere then stay away from spacers, you dont need them.

Audi 100 turbo and quattro's as well I belive.. but deffo 200's.. I have a set of the same style in 4 stud in my wheel collection


Wheels prob wont be touching, but tyre clearance needs looking at..

I would run at least 6mm shims, that would take you to ET39, which is the same as the 5.5" standard steels.
10mm shims would give ET35, will increase road holding.
ideally 15mm shims, that would Match ET30 same as 6" factory steels and Alloys and will keep steering sensible, decent tyre wear.
if it was mine it would be sporting 20mm spacers, only ET25, save chopping the long studs down to the right size, it will fill the arches and keep the tyre away from bits of suspension when on lock.
If the steering became heavy I would correct it by messing around with the steering geometry to counteract the tram lining effect.

I'm about to fit my own Audi Ronal R8's and although they fit without issue after being machined and drilled I thought some spacing would be worthwhile.



If I can't find all the last set of spacers you sent I will order up another batch.

I ran them (on my sika) with 25 and 35mm H&R 112 to 112 adapters. Perhaps a little bit too much. 20 sounds perfect. But the advantage of adapters is that you don´t have to fit longer studs. Other than that, I think 20mm would be great.

For info: The 112 to 112 studded spacers that I made (for fitting Vito ET60 steels) were 30mm thick, basically H&R copies. I couldn't see a way of safely making them any thinner with the standard wheel nut/stud combo that I used to fix them to the hub.
I'm not sure that H&R do one any thinner than 25mm? What nut do they use to lock to the hub?

Oh yeah, Ronal R8 112's If I could find a set at sensible money that would be the start of the quattrobus project for sure...vorsprung baby!
