Can anyone help
Is it possible to fit a 24volt eber to my van (12volt)

Anything is possible.
Depends upon the amount you wish to spend, which model, which functions you require from a timer/controller.I run 4 24v Webastos in vans, a boat and workshop.

I dont really want to be spending loads but i suppose it depends on what options i have.
The heater is a Ebersphacer D1 l diesel. It has a controler but it is not working very well, pos replace or maybe just use a switch ?

The D1L 24v needs 500 watts at start up - it is the worst model to use if you want to run it from a 12v source because of this. An airtronic D2 only uses around 100 watts at startup.
It would cost you anywhere between £100 and £200 for a step up converter for that amount of power (Victron do one for £265). That's before you give it a good overhaul to sort out its running problems.

Sell it and get a modern power efficient model like a Webasto airtop 2000 or an Eberspacher Airtronic D2.

Just an idea, but wouldn't it be possible to use twin batteries, i.e 24v for the eber and a cheap step down converter to run low wattage things like lights on 12v?

Might be a cheaper option?

OK if you are running a 24v alternator & system to start with, otherwise you will have trouble recharging your batteries.
