Sump drain plug leak

Hi all,

I need to change my oil/filter, but have an 'ill' fitting sump drain plug. The chap at my local classic VW place reckons that about 1/10 T25s has the same problem i.e. some numb nuts has over tightened it in the past. In the past the same garage put a load of red sealant around it which does the trick well, but I don't know what it's called. In which case... Can anyone recommend a good sealant to use around the sump plug?

Cheers, Mark

Hylomar maybe, not a good solution though better to drill and tap it to a larger thread size perhaps. Does it have the copper washer?

I think mine has the same problem - not a lot, but a constant dew drop.

Change my oil at the weekend and tried a bit of ptfe rape round the thread. So far so good.
