Hi,i am having problems with my 112ps non-cat 2.1 inj. in my '86 multivan...it doesn't idle when cold and each time i dip the clutch the engine stops, especially under load from the power steering pump..very annoying indeed..i wonder whether anyone has any suggestions where to start looking for faults..many thanks fo your help.

try cleaning the throttle housing with carb cleaner and a tooth brush, oil deposits build up around the butterfly valve and block air flow hense no or lower idle, try that mate

KLT,
Other places to look are:-
Coolant temperature sensor, in the thermostat housing secured by a hairpin clip. Signals the Engine Control Unit (ECU) to provide extra fuel to a cold engine.
Or possibly but would have thought less likely the Power Steering Pressure Sensor, screwed into the steering pump outlet union, signals the ECU when pump is loaded to correct idle speed as needed.
Good luck, I had a similar problem just before a trip to South of France in the spring. Would not idle even when at normal temperature. Was the idle speed control valve sticking due to lack of use during the winter. Managed to free it up and exercise it back to health.
