Hi hope some one can help, We have just got a T25 high top westfalia 1.6 diesel 1985 and having electrical problems, nothing major i hope, The leisure battery under the drivers seat is only showing 9.5 volts across it so I know this is dead, however i think it is not getting cahrge from the altenator when the engine is running, voltage did not seem to go up across battery terminals when engine running and revved. I also removed the battery and once out, I also checked the voltage across the terminals which were left and got 0 voltage surely if charging from alt i would have got a voltage reading???????

I think maybe the split charge relay maybe dead, when you turn on ignition there seems to be no clicking at the relay under the drivers seat.

Anyone help with a problem and what it could be??

Thanks

Firstly...check the power at the leisure battery terminals WITHOUT the battery connected.
It should read 0 volts with the engine off and around 14 volts with the engine running.
A dead/faulty leisure can and often does damage the split charge relay.

A straight replacement would be something like this:

This one is better at 40 amps, it is heavier duty than the original so should give good reliable service.

Thanks for the advice, I have now put in a new leisure battery and a split charge relay, i think it is working but believe it or not the water pump drive belt has snapped meaning no drive for altenator, so will get a new belt tomorrow and stick in on and see what happens. Just go the van so all the odd little jobs keeping me busy lol fixed also window washer was a dirty connection on switch on steering column and stereo fixed up, next jobs are getting the fridge working on mains 12v and gas and fixing the heater blower. will keep me busy anyhow.

Out of intrest was in our local supermarket bearing in mind i live in France and I know not many T25 diesel manuals around, but they had one for the T25 including all petrol and diesel models, seemed ok but my french is not that good yet lol may buy one when i have learnt lol
