Wiring a drop down DVD Player

HI, looking to fit a drop down DVD player in our Westy Hi-top, is there any reason i shouldnt wire it from the leisure battery as opposed to the main?

Leisure battery via a regulated 12v supply ... available from Maplins etc

if you get a vehicle drop down dvd player, why would you need a regulator as well?

Most of these things are rated at 12v and can be sensitive to surge and be damaged by fluctuations with the engine running for example as the regulator on your alternator is rated at 14volts hence the cheap and cheerful regulated 12v supply.

If you had an automotive DVD player it would have the regulator fitted as a matter of course
