If the motor is dead (try turning it by hand) its WAY easier to just put in a complete second hand box. Mine wasn't stuck in with mastic but did need a little leverage to shift it. You mean you got the four screws out with no prob??? wow....

Thanks Mocki just been to the van and worked that out!!!!! I thought I may be able to seperate it in the van but not seeing the inside gubbins.... obviously not poss. Two questions a, Wiki says about 4 screws in the cab two above lights behind gril???? Cant see them on my van and the unit seems loose? b , Do the heatercables have to be diconnecred at the lever ends? To me it looks like they will as my main loom goes through the cables!? Doh Want to replace some of the cables anyway so will have to label them welll or gonna be it the dog doo.

I only found the four main screws on the unit held it in place. Are you sure you really want to open the box though?

Before you do that, pull it forward so you can get to the fan from the back and see if its seized first. Mine was and a few squirts of WD40 and a couple of turns by hand and it was away again.

By the way, shear bolts on column will generally shift with molegrips and put back in the same way.
