Thinking of a T25 diesel as my daily – Advice needed please

Hi all

Just wondering if I could get some advice..... My job is going at the end of the year and I can't really justify a car (VW Jetta) & a camper (Westy T25 high top petrol).
Now I love my camper but I only get about 240 miles per £50 fill up, its in really good nick, only 60k on the engine but its not an economical daily.
I'm thinking of getting a T25 (hopefully a Westy again) pop top diesel in good nick for my daily and I can still head off camping in it. I was wondering if any others are using a T25 as a daily and what sort of MPG are you getting?
Or maybe I should keep the High Top and convert to LPG, or maybe there is an alternative I'm missing...

Any views greatly appreciated.

Fully loaded hightop camper which is also full to the windows with various heaps of detritus and I've lately taken to leaving the bikes on the back. I use it every day to go to work, short journeys through Manchester and Bolton. 1.7n/a diesel engine and I get around 400 miles to the tank full.

Or you could consider LPG (I thought I would be fair as the LPGers never slag off Diesels at all!! :P ).

Ditto the above......only mines a 1.6td..........used as a daily driver/shopepr/kid taker/general hang around in............

I get about 35 miles to the gallon, slightly less so on short around town journeys.........

If I had the choice, which I don't, I would LPG it....

If you like your westy and know its sound - stick with it and get the LPG conversion.

Get a new one and you could end up with bills putting stuff right.

I use mine every day - best turning circle in the car park!

I use mine every day about 30 mpg, 34 ish on a run and mine's also fully loaded. I think its better for it than being parked up most of the time.

If you're happy with your petrol Westy, why not gas it? Halve your fuel bill. I think Jen says about 6 to 7 thousand miles to get your money back. LPG 38 to 47 p a litre, unleaded 93 to 99p a litre.

Yes
I think getting gassed is the way to go as running petty is just silly money for a daily

How much is an LPG conversion on a 1.9 DG?

I can't afford it at the moment but something to consider in the future and just wondering how many pennies I should start saving!

Lpg conversions are around 850- 950, thru Gasure, dependant on tank size
at 39ppl,against 94ppl, you'll get cash back in around 5,000 miles...6 months in my case

Matt,
Did you go to Gasure, how have you found the conversion? Any loss of power or driving issues?
Can you just switch to petty while driving?

cheers

Not sugesting you go down this route but it is an interesting site.

as to wether you stick with what you got or not? well its the devil you know, and if its as you said then I wouldnt get rid,

Getting rid of the car will free up a fair bit of cash (insurance , test, tax etc etc), This is a bit like Who.W.T.B.A.M'naire and ask the audience!
