my rubber pipe that comes from the right hand rear side of the inlet manifold and then reduces in size to fit onto the carburettor has deteriorated … does anyone know the actual name of this rubber pipe…and where i can purchase a quality replacement.
cheers Darren

it's defiantly pipe No.1 on the diagram
it is a coolant pipe to allow hot coolant from the inlet manifold into the carburettor to operate the autochoke. (it heats the bi metal strip to open the choke)
Do you have a Pierburg Carb?
or has it been changed?

These are obsolete from VW but as it's an uncommon pipe ask at VW commercial for part No 025 121 060
if no luck then second hand, there's always a good selection at the major shows
Just say it's the pipe from the inlet manifold to the carb autochoke housing
